July . . . the month "Independence Day" swept all the box office records. The month marking the Independence of our country. And, not to be outdone, the month where Midnight Insanity began to fight back the tyranny of local cities and closed-minded individuals (yes, even in *this* day and age!) But enough of that for the moment -- Greetings, and welcome once again, to The Rocky Horror Picture Show!!! And a hearty welcome to all you virgins out there . . . we've been waiting for you. As per Midnight Insanity Tradition, tonight (the last Saturday of the month) is Lingerie Night!!! So come on down and strut your stuff in as little as you can muster without getting arrested! Heck, we do! Tonight also marks one of the last performances we'll see from Tracy. (awww) He will be departing us shortly to live in Northern California for a while. Tonight he will be playing the role of Brad Majors, while I (Bill), am off at a pinball convention in Las Vegas. :-)

Leather and Lace

As we said, it was a busy month. We held our first "Leather and Lace" night, at the suggestion of one of our audience members. The response was, shall we say, impressive! Quite a bit of leather, with a fair
amount of lace (then again, there's also Lingerie Night for that!), and some even brought their slaves. We'll be sure to hold another "Leather and Lace" night, sometime in the future. Stay tuned for details.

Freak-less Friday

Okay, yes, we *are* a bunch of weirdos. But placing that aside for a second, we've also made considerable donations to the Red Cross (canned food drives), AIDS Project L.A. (to the tune of $1,000 dollars), and numerous other charities and disaster relief funds. Still, someone out in Cypress was anal enough to throw a monkey wrench into the works, and put our Friday Night show off, for the moment. We sincerely appreciate the support of all you folks who'd planned on going. We were looking forward to it as much as you were. As soon as we have more information, we'll post it. Until then, feel free to flip off Cypress as you pass it on the freeway. :-)

Star Watch

It's been a while, but we just got in a truckload of Tim Curry News. Interested??? We thought so . . . read on. Tim Curry, we're told, is slated to star in a number of upcoming features. The first is "Lover's

Knot" which has not been reviewed as a particularly choice flick. However, we're told that a fully costumed Frank-N-Furter walks past Tim Curry in the movie, and that Tim even dragged a few costumes from his own closet (from Hair, not Rocky). The movie is apparently only playing, at the Mann Westwood theatre, in L.A. The next movie is James Cameron's "Titantic" (another Rocky reference?), which is presently shooting in Vancouver. This movie is scheduled to air on CBS in November as a 4-hour miniseries. The last is the feature film "McHale's Navy", which was shot recently in Mexico. A release date is not presently known.

Born Again

A couple months ago, we saw the death of our home Denny's in Seal Beach. We'd been going there ever since invading, er, moving to, Long Beach and the Art Theatre. Of course, Rocky without Denny's just isn't quite right and the cast as claimed a new Denny's in which to celebrate each-and- every show! The new Denny's is located in Los Alamitos, off of Katella. Take 7th Street back to the freeway, grab the 605 North to Katella (~1 mile), exit right, off of the freeway. Denny's will be on your right in about three blocks. The place is spacious, the help is friendly, and there are mirrors on the ceiling! *Do* pay your bills and tip the waitresses nicely, or we'll strap you down and make you listen to John Denver `till your ears bleed!

Old Friends

With summer upon us, old friends seem to be popping up in line . . . good to
have you all back. In addition, we'll be graced with the presence of our Midget Transylvanian, Stephanie, who will be returning to us for almost a *full month* (in August), from the East Coast where she's been pursuing her education. Furthermore, a reunion show has been scheduled for the Berkeley cast, "Indecent Exposure". Performers including Curtis (Frank), Dr. John (Pre-Show) and Sara (Trixie) will be appearing on the weekend of August 24th.

Mmmmm, Sparkly

Midnight insanity is looking for, at least one, particularly energetic Disco Ball. With the departure of Mandi, we are left without a Columbia Understudy, and as much as Leisa loves to perform, Disney may say otherwise. So, if you've always wanted to twirl around on stage in a gold sequin jacket and tap shoes, do come and see the cast after the show. Plus, you'll get that free turkey!

Closing Comments

Midnight insanity would like to thank the Art Theatre Management and crew, for allowing us to perform here *every fucking week*; Bill, who celebrates seven years with Midnight Insanity this month; Leisa, who celebrates six years with M.I. this month; Elizabeth, who suggested Leather and Lace night; Joe, our ultra-cool Denny's waiter who still comes down to see us *every fucking week*; the crew at the new Los Alamitos Denny's, for the efforts they are about to put forth; and as always, to our ever-devoted regulars who always make sure that the virgins will remember their first time.
