Sad tidings on this fateful night. It is always particularly unhappy when we lose a cast member. Tonight marks the end of another chapter of Midnight Insanity, as we bade good-bye to our Frank-N-Furter, Pete. Pete has been performing with Midnight Insanity, off-and-on, for almost two years now. He has been performing Frank on a regular basis, however, since late last year. Pete has come a long way in a short time, his recent credits (this year alone!) include Midnight Insanity's 7th Birthday show, the February Beverly Hills Convention, Valentine's Weekend numbers "Baby Love" (by Tim Curry) and "Fever" (by Little Nell), and most recently, the "Phantom of the Paradise". We'd like to wish Pete lots of luck in the future, and we hope to see him again sometime soon. Life at Last Last week our new Frank-N-Furter, "Chris" took the stage in his virgin performance as Dr. Frank-N-Furter. In addition, Mar-tay gave us his virgin performance as Brad Majors. Judging from the voluminous applause at the end of the show, both did an exceptional job at their first-time performances. We have also added more Transylvanians (these are |
We are the World Midnight Insanity lent it's voices in a joint-effort with the Nuart cast "Sins of the Flesh", and Sal Piro (fan club President); and recorded the "audience participation" lines for the 20th Anniversary Laser-Disc of the Rocky Horror Picture Show! Much like the "audience participation" album, this allows home viewers a minor glimpse of the atmosphere and energy that emanating from the crowd every Saturday night! Yes, it's a far cry from the Real Thing (TM), but unfortunately, the old "audience participation" album is about 10 years old and is just a tiny bit outdated. :-) Just another piece of history |
20th Anniversary Yes kiddies, it's been 20 years since the Rocky Horror Picture show began playing at midnight around the country and fans just like you got dressed up in costumes, yelled lines, and did the Time Warp. Our preliminary information tells us that YES, 20th Century Fox *will* be sponsoring a full-scale celebration of a likely unfathomable size (unless, of course, you went to the 15th Anniversary). Our sources say that the 20th Anniversary is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, October 21 and will be held in LOS ANGELES. The agenda for the 20th Anniversary has not been set, but we can tell you that guests at the 15th Anniversary included Tim Curry (Frank), Richard O'Brien (Riff Raff, scriptwriter, songwriter, singer, God), Patricia Quinn (Magenta), Little Nell (Columbia), Barry Bostwick (Brad) and Meatloaf (Eddie). Save your pennies, do your chores, kiss your parent's butts, but *DO NOT MISS* this event!!! Penance Writing up the Transylvanian Tymes is not as easy as it may look. With all that goes on inside our doors (and outside too) every month, it's easy to forget something. Risking the wrath of Sister Mary Gabrielle, last month I foolishly forgot to mention the absolutely fabulous "Tacky Horror" special performance, "Sister Act". This was a groundbreaking performance put on by |
69 - Tim Curry - 69 We kinda thought that would catch your eye :-) . . . we told you about it almost six months ago and now it's finally here! Tim Curry's has a new movie, "Congo", based on a Michael Crichton book, which just happens to open on Friday, June 9th. That's right, June 9th. 6/9? Hmmmm . . . coincidence? Just by "chance"? One has to wonder!!! Closing Comments Midnight Insanity extends Birthday wishes to Robin, Tracy and Toni (all Transylvanians) . . . Toni's Birthday is tonight, open spanking season!!! Midnight Insanity would also like to thank the Art Theatre management and staff for letting us perform here *every* week, and, for the new atmosphere . . . like the runway lights (masturbation guidance system). The folks down at Seal Beach Denny's, and Joe, our major-ultra-cool Denny's waiter who comes to our show; Pete, for all his efforts and the great performances, we will miss you; Vicki, for showing everybody her "composure" on stage last week; And, once again, all of you, our audience, who dance, scream, yell, flirt and, in general, make the world a messier place to live in. |
